Piribus, the travelling exhibition about environmental education and the heritage of the Pyrenees has been launched
Fri, 03/29/2019 - 14:59
Environmental education and heritage (natural, cultural, tourism) are the stars of "Journey to the heart of the Pyrenees", the exhibition held in the framework of the European project ADN Pirineus. The exhibition was launched today in Ripoll and will travel to 32 different locations around Catalonia, Andorra, Aragon, Navarre and France between 2019 and 2020.
Olot will be the first stop in Catalonia for the exhibition, which is on a semi-trailer lorry with 72 m2 inside, called Piribus. The exhibition will cover a distance of over 6,000 km, and is expected to be seen by 30,000 visitors.
The aim is to raise awareness and highlight the unique nature of the region, through its landscape, geology, biodiversity and history. These will be the four subject areas that will allow visitors to explore the natural and cultural heritage of the Pyrenees. This will be carried out through 360º viewing devices, touch and sound screens, and handling samples and objects. The exhibition will also allow us to gather testimonies and opinions.
After its launch in Ripoll, the Piribus will travel to Tudela (Navarre), Olot, Figueres, Seu d'Urgell, Esterri d'Àneu, Pont de Suert, Sort, Andorra, Berga, Ripoll and Puigcerdà.
Launch
Ripoll hosted the launch event for the Monitoring Committee, as well as a training day for representatives of environmental organisations who will coordinate activities in parallel to the exhibition at each of the stages.
The exhibition was designed with support from around 65 organisations in the Pirineus Vius Education Network, one of which is the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, and who will act as education coordinators for the activities at each stage.
