The Nature Space at Montserrat will host the third edition of this citizen science project so visitors can discover nature with science specialists. Alinyà Mountain will host the event for the first time.
Through this activity, the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation is showing its commitment to environmental awareness and education.
The Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation organises two days of bioprospecting workshops, internationally known as Bioblitz, which are free to attend. On Saturday, 18 May in Montserrat-Coll de Can Maçana and Sunday, 25 May in Alinyà Mountain, animal, plant and lichen lovers will get together.
In Montserrat there will be nine different routes, held during the day and at night. On Alinyà Mountain seven, based on different aspects: plants, lichen, butterflies, insects, birds, mammals, reptiles, bats and moths.
This citizen science and nature discovery activity offers the chance to learn about biodiversity with the help of expert scientists. Volunteers (whether amateurs or citizens without prior knowledge) will identify all the living organisms in a particular area, while learning about scientific field research techniques.
Through this activity, the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation is showing its commitment to natural heritage, and to environmental awareness and education. At the same time, the bioprospecting day helps to protect and preserve both biodiversity and the local landscape.
